Information Engineering
Hugo Hue is a senior undergraduate majoring Information Engineering, and with a minor of Computer Science at CUHK. He is a project-enthusiastic person, love to taking challenges, and explore different possibilities in life.
Hugo is of passion on learning new things and discovering different parts of the world. He had been the summer exchange to University of California, Berkeley to study American Politics, and an year exchange to Lund University in Sweden. During a gap year of his year, he had been traveling over 20 countries, organizing various trips, either academic or adventurous, to deepen the understanding of the histories, cultures, political, and economic statuses of the countries. For example, Hugo has organized and coordinated with other exchange students at UPF-Lund, association of foreign affair, having a trip to Brussels to visit and have the conversations with the team of Christofer Fjellner, the Member of the European Parliament (MEP), the Mission of China to EU, EUNIC etc..
In belief of the power of data, Hugo is keen on pursuing the research on the use of Big Data, Machine Learning, and Internet of Things (IoT). He believes data empowers people to make a wiser decision, and looking forward to working on more interesting projects with others!

I am a final year student, major in computer engineering.
I enjoy working with people. During my first three years in college, I worked in three different startups across Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore. Most of the time I am responsible to develop professional business websites, web and hybrid applications. In 2018, I took a gap year from college and worked for the cybersecurity consulting department of PwC for half a year. Later on, I switched to the founding team of the first PwC branded cybersecurity solution as a software engineer.
During the summer of 2018, I worked at Goldman Sachs as a summer analyst under the Department of Prime Service Risk Technology. My colleagues are some of the smartest people I ever saw. And they have lots of great idea in their mind. However, not many of them can get away from their comfort zone and the mouth-watering salary package. So the most valuable thing I learned from them is: Fresh graduate will be the best moment to give urself a shot on starting a business.
I am particularly interested in education specifically in engineering. My life gets changed with my knowledge in engineering. So I truly believe that STEM is the best tools for the next generation to become a more competitive person.

I’m LI YIXIN, Sleepy, a 3 rd year computer science undergraduate student from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
“No blood! No bone! No ash!” is always my life motto. I always believe that youth full of energy is no regrets. I love Japanese anime, especially those full of passion. I will be touched by the positive energy of characters in the anime. So, in my life, I am committed to be a person who can positively influence others.
Besides, I love music. I think listening to music is one of the most relaxing things in the world. When I turn on the stereo or plug in the earphones to enjoy the world of music, my mood will follow the melody and I will feel that I’m not alone at that moment. Because of that, I am addicted to music games. Playing music games makes me feel that I am performing a song using my fingers or hands. But sometimes I would find that the UI design of a game is not attractive enough, but the quality of music is quite good. Or some games have novel gameplay but don’t have a good source of music. Hence, I hope to design a music game that is attractive enough and will bring companionship and happiness to lovers of different music types. Life is supposed to sing for the things you like, isn’t it?
Computer Science & IBBA Double Degree
Hi everyone, my name is NING Jingjie, Ethan. And I’m a year three student of Computer Science and Integrated Business Administration double degree program in the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Recently I’m working on the business startup program with my classmates from ENGG5700. For the past three years, I have been serving as the program coordinator and team leader of an international volunteer organization as well as the co-founder of an international association to build the bridge between different societies.
Right now, the two groups are self-sustained and developing at a promising speed. I saw with my own eyes the power that good leadership has to accelerate impact; This is why I’m here because a startup program values adventurous spirit and strong leadership. I do believe this is the place for me to utilize my leadership and push the boundary of our success.
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering
Yuanyuan Wei is currently a first-year Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. student at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Aimed at the real-time response capture, her research interests producing optofluidic microfluidics chips for ultracentrifuge observation.
On top of the booming global microfluidic market, microfluidics has applications in a multitude of industries, ranging from healthcare to electronics. Before entering CUHK, she received her Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Precision Instrument from Tsinghua University. When she was an undergraduate, she was the only girl out of the other 12 boys. She was awarded Excellent Mainstay Awards in the Student Union of Tsinghua University in 2016, which approves her leadership.
Moreover, she is very energetic and passionate about life. With more than 4-year experience in photography, she has held a record to finish 10km-running in 70 minutes and cycled more than 400km every spring for over 2 years.

My name is Anmol, a penultimate year undergraduate student pursuing a major in Computer Science and a minor in Finance.
Although I started out with several projects in Automation and compliant robotics, I've since moved to work in the Financial industry. I initially worked at Oracle as an automation engineer where I helped build a POC for an automated test framework for the Bank ICBC. Last summer, I worked as an industrial placement trainee at HSBC Retail Banking and Wealth Management, helping build their Staff Front End system serving across 50 call centers in Hong Kong.
This summer, I plan to intern at JP Morgan Chase in the Global Markets division in the electronic trading team. My interests include Public speaking, International politics, and the Financial Markets.

I'm a year 3 Engineering student of The Chinese University of Hong Kong majoring in Computer Science. Being very interested in Data Science Stream, I'm currently taking related courses to gain essential knowledge and skills.
Feeling curious about how people turn their passion and dream into reality, I applied for the course. And I'm thrilled with the fact that all my teammates are excellent people in different aspects.
One important thing I learned from a book is to "redo" things. For example, re-read the book I thought I've understood to get the author's true intention besides the surface. Re-think about my opinion when others' are different from mine before unconsciously argue for myself.
I've missed a lot of opportunities in the past. Regret and the desire of self-accomplishment push me to value this opportunity, learn the most from professors, teammates, entrepreneurs, from all the people I meet.
My favorite quote is that "We have the potential to theorize the world", said by Aristotle. I think the most subtle word in the sentence is "potential"; because it is “potential”, not “ability”, we need to struggle, to pay efforts, to get our hands dirty before we have the possibility of theorizing the world and getting a meaningful life. I'm ready for it.
Ph.D. in Mechanical and Automation Engineering
I am GONG Xuewen, a second yearPh.D student at CUHK, majoring in Mechanical and Automation Engineering.
I come from a small but extremely beautiful border city adjacent to Russia, Suifenhe. Since I was a child, I am optimistic and empathetic, have a strong desire to be a life-long learner and dream of contributing to serious global issues, from environmental pollution to inequality in education. After entering Xian Jiaotong University, I worked hard, ranked first in my major and won National Scholarship two times as an undergraduate.
Then, selected as HKPFS awardee, I came to Hong Kong and carry on with my dream. To reduce the pollution of batteries and power consumption of the Internet-of-things era, I’m working on the development of a self-powered sensor with the implementation of energy harvesting technologies. In late 2018, I went to National Taiwan University for sensor fabrication.
As an education believer, I join Education Without Barriers, taking charge of programming class and “little parent” group in Dalian for the disadvantaged children. In early 2019, I was awarded as the Most Dedicated Award Nomination. In addition, I am curious and enthusiastic about the vital life. I especially love street dance. When I dance to the music, I enjoy every stretch, pop and every jump to the rhythm and melody.

I'm Li Jinzhou, a third-year student major in computer science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. I'm also a member of the ELITE stream of the Engineering Faculty.
I'm an eager and fast learner. For me, the feeling of mastering a new skill is better than anything and I strongly believe that interest is the best teacher. I like to spend my time to learn new things which may be a programming language, or a delicious meal, or a kind of sport, or just a concept I have not heard about. No matter what the thing is, I think it's worthy.
Besides, I'm good at self-discipline. One motto I created for myself is, "Always do what you are supposed to do and do it well." When I'm studying, I will concentrate on it and I won’t be distracted by other people or my phone. However, when I'm playing or taking a rest, I will enjoy my time and think nothing about the study.
Also, I'm a sports fanatic. I love playing football, badminton, table tennis and exercising and I think it's the best way to relax.
One motto I created for myself and everyday paid effort to is, "Always do what you are supposed to do and do it well."
Ph.D. in Electronic Engineering
Currently, I am a first-year Ph.D. student from the department of EE. My research interests focus on computer vision and machine learning, especially on 3D vision and SLAM. Our work helps smart agents to perceive the outside world and obtain knowledge by learning, and our work can be widely used in autonomous driving, robotics, etc. My future goal is to run my own company, to utilize what I have learned and explored to better serve people. To achieve this goal I think I should not only expertise in research, but also have some knowledge about engineering entrepreneurship. So I am really glad to take this course. Keep trying!

Professor Jimmy Lee obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Victoria. After graudation, he returned to Hong Kong and joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he is now Assistant Dean (Education) of the Faculty of Engineering, Program Director of the Master of Science in Financial Technology programme, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Professor (by courtesy) in the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management.
