Twitter - by Sleepy Li
On Wednesday, we went to Twitter for a visit. Here, Thanks to Jinny who hosted us for this fantastic visit. Twitter is an American online news and social networking service on which users post and interact with messages known as "tweets". The Twitter headquarters is located in the heart of San Francisco, surrounded by bustling high-rises, quite different from the companies we visited before. After the elevator reached the ninth floor, we instantly felt into a new world. The first thing that comes into view is a sentence: love where you work. Later, we visited the entire working environment of Twitter, and we can easily find the meaning hidden in this sentence. We can deeply feel the great enthusiasm of Twitter employees for their work. Every time we see an employee, their smiles and unconstraint make us very moved. We believe that they must be very passionate about working on Twitter. On Twitter, we could see different sentences everywhere, such as the "love where you like" mentioned earlier and "just setting up my twitter". These "motto", in my opinion, can show the inner-value of Twitter.
And we also saw a real-time board which shows the top 20 hashtags at the moment. In my perspective, it was so amazing since I think Twitter is a company that focuses on current news and spread it to influence the world. The most important thing for Twitter is to keep thinking newly. And it is obvious that employees working in Twitter mostly are young blood. Moreover, Twitter is also a company that attracts young people. One important reason is that there is a great deal of flexibility working in Twitter. On the sharing of senior, we got to know that in fact, she is working in Twitter Seattle. However, when the company knew that we will come to SF for a visit, Twitter just allowed her to fly to SF to host us even though she only joined this job for 2 months. I really appreciate that Twitter can give employees such kind of freedom or flexibility in their work. This is quite important that making people happy working for you.
After the company visit, recruiter and senior Jinny together with her fellows shared their experience and gave us some suggestions in our career planning and further study choices. From their sharing, we can see that working on twitter is a very satisfying thing. Everyone is full of energy and welcomes every day. On the other hand, we are all under pressure to study and live, and we do not know how to better plan our lives. Therefore, we should face life optimistically and actively, and then do our best to achieve our goals.
Thanks to all the employees that host us so that we had a wonderful time in Twitter. And I hope that we all can *love where we work* in the future.
